Back, when I asked what kind of a content you would like to see, some of you said you'd be interested in our travels, so here you go.
We went to Serbia, I mean, Voivodina, the part that used to belong to Hungary (before the Trianon pact), and still large part of the population speak Hungarian as their mother tongue.
There was a concert of our favorite band, and about the day before we decided to go. I asked my son, Christopher, if he wants to join us, and he did.
I did spent that Saturday's morning trying to buy dinars (the Serbian money), and it was not easy feat, went to a ton of exchange placec, and from three of them managed to get the amount we needed for the concert-tickets and a dinner there.
It was a short trip, Since N. worked until 6 in the morning, we left only about 3 PM. We were there only for a late afternoon and evening, but boy, what an evening it was.
Serbia is not part of the European Union, so we had a slight apprehension but we were pleasantly surprised.
Crossing the border was fast, and I had my first stamp in my brand new, crispy passport.
The landscape and the villages, small towns were not that different than those in the southern plains of Hungary. We got there fairly late but of course had to do a quick walk around in the city of Zenta (Senta).
Ah, the Tisza (Theis, Tisa).. I grew up in a city, where the Tisza and a smaller river (Zagyva) joins, and you know, my heart always beats heavier, when I see it. Here the river is wider than upstream, in the city of my childhood.
Now, it is not a surprise to us that the concert was great, but the love pouring from the local audience warmed our hearts, and gave extra energie to the music.
(There is a full album of concert-photos on Norbert's FB-page, here).
I think, I will keep the memories of this day among my favorites.
