February stashbusting update

No, I did not make really big wows of stashing down of either the yarn or the fabric stash. I know I am not good at those things. My most ambitious goal would be, finishing the year with less, than I started with... and things are not looking up, LOL.

I was really good, in january, and only got that DROPS yarn I used for swatches I showed you a couple of days ago, and I did finish not one but three sweaters from old yarn, and got pretty nicely ahead with a forth one, so I guess that is three sweater-woth of yarn (not counting the sweater I am currently working on) out of the stash.

I had plans to get some DROPS Fiesta, and I was not sure that the traffic jam because of which we did not get in to the store before it closed last saturday was a good or bad thing, especially, since by the time I got around to order those colors, they were out of them... I also don't know, if I could say no to some optical white Karisma, if I see it in real life, while for now I keep putting it off the mail order.

Also I did bump into some sockyarn from which three pack would be enough for a base color for stranded sweaters (so I think that would be three sweater-worth), and one skein for  pair of sock. So I was back to square one...

Until that yarn-market on saturday, from where one other skein of sockyarn came home with me.

To my defence I should add, that I halved the skein as soon as I got home (in fact, as you can see above, I halved the other skein too), but also cast on, so it should not be on the plus side in my stash for long.

As for the fabric stash, I was really good, but I was also feeling really low, and I have plans for sewing some modern things, and I got about 2.4 meters of light denim, and 4 meters of black linen (it was LINEN, and we all know, there are two things I cannot say no to: linen and sockyarn). I did sew that musical-instrument-holder for my friend, entirely from stash, so that was about 2.6 meters (alltogether), but that is still almost 4 meters of plusz.

As we say in Hungarian, to win from this point, would be an achievement. (I am sure there is a much better phrase for that in English, only, I cannot think of it.)

What about you and your stash? Are you one who only buys what s/he knits/sews up right away, or do you have some stock at home? Do you keep up with it (know just how much/what type/where it is)? Do you have any stashbusting ambitions for this year? How strict are you with yourself?
